Dartford 1891, 1901 please
« on: Friday 12 August 05 02:09 BST (UK) »
Could someone search for the Martin family found on the 1881 census at Dartford I have searched the free 1901 but only picked up on a Thomas Martin  and wondered if he was a widower in 1901.

Dartford
20 Home/Holme Garden
John Martin      H   26   Lab   Dartford
Ann (Alice)       M   27      Crockenhill
Thomas Martin                   S   2mths      Dartford
Richard (Rowland) Roffey brother S    22   Lab   Crockenhill
Lizzy Roffey            sister   11      Crockenhill

I have found Richard/Rowland on the 1891 & 1901 and found Lizzy married on the 1901 at Rotherhithe.

Any help at all will be appreciated

Hi Kissimmee

The parish registers for Dartford (& Crockenhill) are online - can you please confirm whether this is the family that you are looking for - several discrepancies with the 1881 info ???

James Thomas MARTIN son of James & Alice of 20 Bullace Lane, labourer bp Dartford 3 Apr 1881

Thanks for all the work you have put in on this one.
It is definitely the correct family - all the Roffey's born in Crockenhill are mine.
Went back to the 1881 and checked out the husband and they have him down as John instead of James
Every one of them is not using their correct birth name
Ann was Alice
son Thomas was James Thomas
Richard was Rowland
Lizzy was Elizabeth
It was clever of you to find them
Looks like they sort their names out after 1881
Thanks again I will enjoy sorting out all the new information
