Ysabeau

I thought I was the only one to remember the 'janet and John' Reading books - I presume that's what you were hintng at!??

Lisa

That's all the headstone says. Many around this time are the same, only two names and a date. There are also dozens which only have initials - so could be anybody!

I'll go and have a look during the week and see if I can find it.

I've been photographing and transcribing all the churchyards and cemeteries around this district for the last year or so and have never come across this surname. In saying that, Larbert Cemetery (which is actually in Stenhousemuir) is one I've only been to a couple of times and I had been given section numbers and lair details to find the exact 'spots'.  This is a pretty big Cemetery - not the kind you would expect to cover in a day's search. I can add Yorkston(e) to my ever increasing list and if I ever come across one, I'll let you know.

Lisa - forgot to add Scotland's People url.

Pay per view site but excellent if you don't get carried away!

thanks that would be great.

there is no way that i will be coming up to there, its a long way from where i am. The churchyards i have visited for other families have been a waste of time as most of the gravestones have been unreadable.

thanks

Hi Anne

Hadn't actually thought of that.......more eldest daughter and second son would be named after her parents and with Donaldson as the middle name in both cases it made sense to think John and Janet COULD be the names of her parents.

Hi Ysabeau,

Sorry!  Must have had yet another 'senior moment' when my mind decided to go off at a tangent - again!

Happens all the time!!  ;D
