I am doing research on Robert Thompson and his wife, Mary Dorris (Doris), who came to the Abbeville, S.C., area from Ireland in the 1760s. I am trying to find out exactly where in Ireland they came from. They were friends with William McBride (married to Jane Law), who traveled to America from Ireland a few years later. Robert Thompson and his son Archibald were born in County Tyrone. Has anyone run across these names in a particular area of County Tyrone? Thanks.
