I'm still not convinced 1860 is correct though  :-\

The Yorkshire Gazette of 25 Sep 1858 carries a report of the consecration, which took place the previous Thursday and goes on to say that "the church is now properly furnished and fitted up.... and was intended, on being duly consecrated, to be substituted for the old parish church in Thornaby."  The article goes on to describe the consecration service, repeats that it will replace the old church, and ends with a paragraph stating that "On Sunday next the concluding services in connection with the opening of the new church will take place"
