1 Samuel Robinson-2 Marriages ?

Samuel Robinson of Bulwell married Ann Walker at Greasley 5 Aug 1783,they had five children from 1783 to 1798 at 2-3 year intervals.
Samuel Robinson of Bulwell married Ann Walker at Bulwell 20 Aug 1799, they had two children in 1800 & 1802.
The children's names are all different, the child born 1800 is named Selina which name appears down the generations.
Is it possible that this is the same couple marrying again for some reason as yet undiscovered?

There are lots of Samuel Robinson marriages in Nottinghamshire so not an uncommon name so they could well be 4 different individuals.

However, looking at these two particular entries on familysearch they both have the same GS film number except that the final two digits have been swapped around so maybe something awry with the transcription?

The Notts Marriage Index gives the residence for the Samuel and Ann who married in Bulwell as Broughton. Not sure if that helps or not. I just have the feeling that they are two different couples. There are several children baptised to Samuel and Ann in Bulwell from 1800 onwards.

I looked up Broughton on the map, maybe there's another Broughton but the one I found seemed a fair distance from Bulwell, so why marry there and have children baptized there.Samuel seems to be a favoured name amongst the Robinsons so it is difficult sorting them out.

Ihad noted that the marriage was by license,but I have not seen the details of a marriage bond. Where did you find this?

Hi Liz,

The bond is held by the Manuscripts and Special Collections at the University of Nottingham here's a link to the record I sent you and if you click on the code number by each name it give's a little more detail and there is a menu at the side where you can do search's I always use the one search the name index. put in surname first then christen name, give it a go but they do not have all marriages licence's but it's always my first point of call.

By the way it's not just marriage licence's they have lots of other records to give it a try you never knew what you find.

the link on reply 6 does still work I've just tested it.

Here's a link to the search page, when looking for someone I only use the surname box put in surname then forename all in the same box, i.e Robinson Samuel, don't use the forename box as it wont being up the same results
