The 1949 marriage is The correct one. There is an intimation in the Sunderland Echo which says he was the son of Mrs Allan of Monkwearmouth and the late Mr George Allan.

Was your grandmother living near an RAF station at the time of conception?
A word of warning: there may well be close relatives of the putative father alive ... may be even on here .. how would they feel about this, you may wonder?
Does mere physical inheritance make as important a relationship as years of bringing a child up and caring?
I concur. RootsChat is an open forum. Names on here come up on internet searches. Be very cautious what you post. Would it not be more appropriate to communicate any particular or identifiable details via private message?
May be as well to consult a moderator for advice?

Hi'ya

Our rules are we do not research or post details on living folk. Yes as Maiden stone has said our forum is a public forum and is indexed by search engines it is folk googling names and places that often find our messages and get in touch this is fantastic for family history as it often put relatives in touch with one another sometimes many years apart.

Regards

Sarah
