seeking WW2 war record
« on: Sunday 20 January 19 16:34 GMT (UK) »
I have been searching for a war record for a Walter John Wheller, Private of the 7th Yorks Regiment.  He originally born in London, married to Florence Henrietta Wheller formely Jacobs.  Home address 57 Dorothy Road, Battersea.
I have tried to locate the regiment but not sure what part of yorkshire this relates too.

Would be eternally grateful.

Service records after 1920 are still with the MOD and are not available online

Hi Trish, There is a Wartime Memories Project for the 7th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) WW2 which might be of interest. I can't post a link as I am on the iPad at the moment.

Service records are available from the MOD:
https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

There is a fee of £30, and you will need his Death Certificate (unless he died in service).
