Wow!
Thanks very much for all that information, I’m genuinely taken aback by all your efforts!

At the moment I can’t shed much more light on things other than to pass on that my grandfather was a William Wheeler who died aged 82 in 1990 or 91 having moved from Staines to Bracklesham Bay.

I’ll do so more digging through my mothers old letters and documents and see if I can throw any more clues to the forum.

Thanks again,

Michael

Now you have lost me  ;D

You were originally referring to William Wheeler born 16 feb 1845, now you are mentioning William Wheeler who died in Bracklesham Bay in 1990 age 82.

Are you trying to go backwards from the one who died in 1990

Yes that’s correct.  The William Wheeler in bracklesham Bay was my Grandfather and I was trying to establish what relationship was between the 2 of them.

Apols for any confusion and thanks again for your help.

Could any one tell me how to use a National Insurance number to find out details regarding my father?  He left when I was very young and would be dead by now unfortunately.  I would like to find out where he is buried so that I could visit his grave.
Thanks

I don't think that you can search anyone by their National Insurance numbers.  His death in the UK certainly would not be indexed by it.

His date of birth may help you find his death registration on some indexes, earlier ones only show an age at death.
