Has anyone got the book 'At the Ford of the Birches'?
« on: Sunday 27 January 19 14:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I was wondering if anybody had the book: At the Ford of the Birches: The History of Ballybay?

My ancestry goes back to Ballybay and I would love to read this book, sadly the only ones I can find online are been sold for ridiculous prices (£250, £1000+).  What I am hoping is that if somebody had the book, that they would be kind enough to have a look for my Kavanagh's.

Thank you

It fetches a hefty price:

Hefty price indeed Carol.  Absolutely passionate about family history and would love to own this book, but could not justify paying those prices  ::)

Where in the world are you, it's available in Irish libraries at the moment.

England! Googling book stores in Ireland at the moment to see if any stock the book.

Agreed Hallmark
The book is available to Irish Library users, on the shelf in some places, and can be requested to be transferred to your local library
LINK to library service page for example

It may also be available in England!
It is in the University in Oxford according to on-line sites but they may not transfer to other libraries

Look at the results on worldcat.org, after typing in the title:

https://www.worldcat.org/title/at-the-ford-of-the-birches-the-history-of-ballybay-its-sic-people-and-vicinity/oclc/43416840&referer=brief_results

Besides Oxford, I found Cambridge, and The British Library, St. Pancras, in England.

You might get a US public or college library to do a search for you. If not, you could pay New England Historic and Genealogical Society to do a search.
