1841 census Wrexham town
« on: Thursday 31 January 19 19:08 GMT (UK) »
I am aware that most of this area is missing, but there are parts of the town that survived.
I'm looking for the occupants of Lion House / hotel on High Street in 1841.
Thanks

I'll have a look at my transcribed booklet later on. They're buried under other Clwyd booklets at the moment.

No Lion House/Hotel listed on High Street.

I have - Wynnstay Arms; Coach and Horses; Royal Oak

There is a White Lion in Mount Street.

Some possible on High Street but no other address:

Edward Hughes, 30, Innkeeper, not b. County

Elizabeth Hall, 35, Publican, b. County

Edward Davies, 50, Publican, b. County

Thanks, Clwyd FHS Historic Inns.

John Sparrow  Lion . Pigot 1830
Robert S Comberbach  Lion House Pigot 1844.

I`m just trying to till the gap, after 1851 I`m OK.

Thanks, Clwyd FHS Historic Inns.

John Sparrow  Lion . Pigot 1830
Robert S Comberbach  Lion House Pigot 1844.

Does it say High Street?

I'll check to see if either of these people are on the remnants of the Wrexham  1841 transcriptions but maybe the Clwyd Research Centre might have other info.

Note (for others) - the 1841 for the 2 Wrexham EDs are only from a transcription listing which was found in a book in bookshop in Wrexham. The original census returns don't exist.

I had a quick look at Welsh Newspapers Online but nothing jumped out. Is it worth you having a more detailed look?

There's nothing for Wrexham newspapers that early.
