COMPLETED George William Collyer

Hi. I have been asked to help a friend research their family tree, but have little to go on.  I have checked the freegen and freecen sites but don't think I have anything yet.
The person of interest is George William Collyer - what I know is that he married Alice who was born around 1885 and died 19 January 1968. He is believed to have joined the army in 1914, which takes me to around 1886 for his birth, but this is a hunch only.
The family lived in Woodend East, Hanbury, Tutbury, Staffordshire.  I cannot see a Collyer family on the free online census, but wondered if they appeared in this area with a young George William in 1901 or 1911 or Collyers were at a woodend address on a census if you can search that way.
