Missing Jones family!
« on: Saturday 02 February 19 15:49 GMT (UK) »
I have the Jones Family on the 1891 Census living at Ty Gwyn Cottages, Conway, Caernarvonshire.I am having trouble locating them before then, apart from a possible marriage for the parents Thomas Jones born 1850 Llysfaen & Diana Jones born 1849 Llysfaen in the Parish Church of Llysfaen, Caernarvonshire 2 August 1873. If this is the same couple as the ones in the 1891 Census his father was Hugh Jones Gamekeeper & her father John Jones labourer.
The children on the 1891 Census are:-
Llewelyn born 1883, Mary 1885, Maggie 1887, Price 1888 all born Conway & Ann J Jones 1874 Llysfaen.
Any suggestions or help gratefully received.

It looks to me as if Diana(h) is with the children in the Conway Workhouse in 1881.There as an Ann J of exactly the same birth year as in 1891. Ref RG11/5581/16/4
I'm not sure where Thomas is.

Regards
Roger

Roger how would I know if it is the same Thomas I am looking for that you have found in Ruthin Gaol?
Thanks Millipede I have now found the family you have mentioned also thanks for offering to post full info, this looks very promising.

All I can say is that the balance of probability is that it is the correct Thomas:

1.His birth place as per the image is given as Llanelian(but transcribed as Llanelidan, exactly the same mistake as with Dianah(!).1851 census,Hugh Jones, gamekeeper, and Thomas in Llanelian.

2.What better reason for Diana being in the workhouse?

3.I can't find him anywhere else!
