Elizabeth Porter was born Sept 5 1889 to John Porter and Elizabeth Mullen Carnamoyle
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02464/1915035.pdf
so Margaret's birth year of 1889 has to be incorrect or the girls names are mixed up

Elizabeth Porter was indeed born Sept 5 1889 to John Porter and Elizabeth Mullen....BUT
She could EASILY be the one born to John Porter/Ann McIntyre in 1879!!

I’m looking for any information on John Ferries family

JOHN FERRIE was born Abt. 1857 in Donegal.  He married Margaret Porter on the 28 Apr 1904 in BURT Co. Donegal, daughter of JOHN PORTER and ELIZABETH MULLEN. She was born 06 Sep 1889 in Carnamoyle Donegal. John was 47 when got married and Margaret 24 and I think they had two children and came from the area of Muff. I've got a lot on Margaret's family.

Thanks for any help

Joe

Where did you get that she was the daughter of JOHN PORTER and ELIZABETH MULLEN from??

My side is Porters from Muff the information I got from http://donegalgenealogy.com census1901/1911Carnamoyle and was also sent John and Elizabeth's marriage certificate from Iskaheen Kilderry Roman Catholic Church 1878. Fathers names John Porter and Denis Mullen

I can see there is a difference in the dates which I never looked at. Margaret is the only one in which I can find no other information apart from who I was told she married and possible had children?
Certainly the birth register throws up a spanner stating Elizabeth was born in 1894 Sept 5th the census 1911 she is age 15 (1896) She died in 1972 True Ireland buried in Muff graveyard plot No 51. Something is mixed?

thanks

Is this your family?
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Donegal/Kilderry/Carnamoyle/1190096/
You know what happened to all the children except Maggie is that correct?
You were told she married an older man and had two children, yes?

KG

I wonder if this could be the same error as happened on one of mine
I have a boy registered as Jane, which was his mother''s name, could Elizabeth have registered Margaret as Elizabeth by mistake.
People did tend to get a bit flustered with officialdom.

Ah me head I'm getting my years mixed up, one of the Elizabeth might be in fact Margaret registered as Elizabeth in error

Yes that’s them. Three died in Glasgow and the rest Donegal/Dublin, two sisters never got married Sarah and Elizabeth. I had found two birth certificates for a Elizabeth Porter same father and mother, Sept 5 1889 and Feb 15 1896. The mistake in naming would be a better possibility

Thanks again
