There are pieces of the 1861 census for Newcastle which are totally lost, so if they were living any of those areas in 1861 your search will be in vain  :-\

Possible later child: Theresa Lalor Elliott, 4q 1858, Newcastle upon Tyne, 10b, 53, mother's maiden surname Blakey.

Death Therese Lalor Elliott, 4q 1860, Newcastle upon Tyne 10b, 45, aged 2

Those baptisms fit perfectly with their residence in the 1851 census.

1851 2g/2466/455/9 as Elliot - John 1823 Ireland, Jane 1819 Ireland, Margaret 1844 Ireland, James 1848 Newcastle and John 1850 Newcastle (Margaret married in 1864 Newcastle)

It took me some time to find them, because this reference took me to Swansea!

The correct reference is HO 107 / 2406 / 455/ 9   ;D

Wow you guys have been busy little bees - thankyou for all the information  ;D

I'm trying to help a family member with their tree - they are a descendant of Margaret Elliot so I'll try and see if Jane Blakey is her mam.
