Where is ‘Inchacomb’...
« on: Friday 08 February 19 00:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi team...

I’m trying to locate ‘Inchacomb’.  I believe it to be somewhere near to Galbally.

I have the family MULLINS, some who migrated to Victoria, Australia prob in the 1860’s saying that they are ‘Native of Inchacomb Co Limerick’.

I’ve found the marriage of Thomas Mullins and Ellen Daley in 1835 which I believe is the parents.

I noticed there are some other Mullins posts for nearby locales too.

Regards, Bitzar.

Yes, you are correct. Inchacoomb is in the Civil Parish of Galbally.

Funny about the connection of Mullins and Victoria, Australia.

My mother Katherine Mary Mullins born Inchacomb 13 October 1917 migrated to Sydney Australia in the early 1920's with her maiden aunt Margaret O'Brien. She married Nicholas Larkins in 1938 and passed away in 1981.

I am trying to locate any living relatives in Ireland.

Hi MickeyFish

Welcome to Rootschat!

I recently visited the locale of Inchacomb.  Because I hadn’t gotten very far before leaving Australia it was only a flying visit.

Can you track your mum back to the marriage I mentioned?!

Hi there,

Unfortunately not. My mother and her sister Joan (born 1908) travelle3d with their maiden aunt.

Their mother Mary was married to a farmer John Mullins.

I have one cousin who would now be in 60's who lives in Melbourne - Morgan O'Brien but do not know how to contact him either

I will have a look at it.  I’m away on holidays at the moment so I won’t be as quick as usual.

I have found your Aunt Johanna’s birth but not your grandparents marriage.

I can't see the marriage either
This looks like the family in 1911

I usually look for the birth of the youngest to check the mother's maiden name but I can't find Julia.
There is a Patrick though

Hanna would be Johanna/Joan.

Thank you all for replies.

The pieces are starting to fall in place.

John and Mary Mullins gave birth to several children:

Patrick                 born ?
Joan ( Johanna)  born 1908
Mary                    born 1911
Sheila                  born ?
Katherine             born 1917

There could be others; the main goal is to make contact with living descendants.

I have one cousin Mary O'Brien who live in England and worked for British Airways. her brother Morgan lived in Melbourne.
