I responded to the Ayrshire post as there were no responses, I was unaware of the Lanarkshire post
Not getting at you, but just a reminder to everyone.

Please, if you start a new thread on the same family, always include a link to any earlier threads so that helpful RootsChatters don't waste their time duplicating what others have already looked at.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Sorry folks, I didnt know about adding the link for the same clan....   I thought that a different branch of the family would need a new thread.
Thanks to you all for your speedy response to my request...You all are wizards of genealogy  :-))
Looby, I signed up for Scottish Peoples website, but cant seem to find the 1841 census which you found.  I found some of the OPR that showed up , but couldnt find a match in the 1841 census.  If I searched using John  McArthur instead of MacArthur will it come back no records found?
I will continue my search, and you all have been a massive help!    Cheers...Bert

Best to use wildcards - search for m*c*r*t*h*r which should find every conceivable variation.

Hi Bert

In this case, they show in Barony as we had them, as MacArthur. Just search for George MacArthur, age 5. Additonal first name of John.

Wildcards are your friends on Scotlands People!
