Belfast - GILMOUR death about 1890
« on: Saturday 13 August 05 23:44 BST (UK) »
  Hi,

I'm seeking info. on when my great-grandfather John GILMOUR (b. 1859, Inch, Scotland) died.

In 1886, he and his family (wife, Jane; children, Martha, Will, Elizabeth, Jean and Mae) were living on Dee St. He worked at Harland and Wolff.  Won a medal playing football.

I believe he died around 1890 (+ or - a few years). Haven't found him in LDS records.

Any suggestions of where to look appreciated.

   Janet

Hiya Janet,

Have you looked at the Harland and Wolff Islandmen Project on the Antrim Resources board? The Project relates to a collection of ID cards of people who worked in the yards. The cards were purchased in a job lot at an auction. The guy who is running the Project would like to hear from either the owner of the card, or relations of the owner, and get some stories about work in the yards for his website.

It might be worthwhile having a look at the Emerald Ancestors website too.
