Anthony Harrison was a witness at more than one marriage at Edgbaston, St Bartholomew.
Elizabeth signed X in 1834 and signed Elizabeth Adkins in 1841.

No clear picture who Harriet is, could just be a friend?

That's great, thank you very much.
I see Ancestry is having a free weekend, so I can check up on these marriage records.
I see what you mean about Isabella's marriage, unfortunately the second witness is totally unreadable.
Your find of Elizabeth looks very promising too, I'll be looking into it to see if I can find any clues.
I'm going to be spending the weekend looking up Roberts and Susannahs born in Scotland :)

Cheers and thanks again

I had seen this marriage before but one of the witnesses was Anthony? (Very Faint) Harrison, this put me off, so with the second Witness being Martha Harrison not sure about it.

James Adkins  & Elizabeth Harrison 25 Aug 1834 Edgbaston, St Bartholomew
Children baptised St Martin, Birmingham. Father a Pump Maker abode George St.

Elizabeth Ann Adkins   14 Jan 1838   5 Feb 1838
Harriet Atkins   24 Sep 1835   19 Oct 1835

James Atkins Death 01/1839 Birmingham Warwickshire

Colin

This looked really promising, but I'm afraid it probably isn't the right one, since father John was a gardener or labourer, and a pump maker is a good step away from that :(

The Pump Maker was James Adkins, father of his and Elizabeth's children.

Hi Bev,
The baptism's are on Ancestry, still free today. By the time of Elizabeth's second marriage the fathers name was on the record & John was still a labourer.
I've had a look for Harriet the witness, sadly too many possibilities to be sure but as you know the Harrison name was quite common in the area, however on Elizabeth's marriage to Joseph Johns their mutual address was Pritchett St. There was an Harriet in Tower St quite nearby, so I wonder if they were simply friends or maybe cousins?

Martha, right?
There are so many Harrisons  :(
John senior had a brother called Jonathan also born in Yardley, who I haven't followed up.  Just maybe he had children in the area and this could be the connection.  Something else to go after :)
