What happened to John Taylor (b.c 1812 Bolton-le-Moors) after 1861??
« on: Thursday 14 February 19 17:05 GMT (UK) »
I would dearly welcome any help in locating my great-great-grandfather John Taylor after 1861.  He was b.c. 1812 Bolton, son of Israel and Ellen, married Alice Monks in 1832 at Deane Parish Church, was in Salford for the 1841 census, Bolton for the 1851, back in Salford for the 1861 at 11 Carter Street.  He was a cotton bleacher (occasionally book-keeper).  Alice died in 1846 and as far as I know John did not remarry.  John and Alice had 6 children:  Squire, Major, Israel, Ralph, Alice, William, John, and Dennis.  Can anyone discover what happened to John after 1861?  With thanks for any help.

For info only - 1861 just shows birthplace as Lancashire.  Ref is RG9 Pce 2910 F 67 P 31

Freebmd has a number of John Taylor deaths in both Salford and Bolton Reg districts between 1861 - 1871.  Ages did not appear on deaths until the mid 1860’s so you would need to use GRO Online to establish the age on those entries.

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

For Bolton entries you can use www.lancashirebmd.org.uk

Unfortunately - even if you find any age matches there is no way of knowing if it’s the right entry without buying a copy of the death cert

In 1861 he was with his 6 children.  If all children were still in Salford in 1871 I would think it’s more likely he stayed in Salford but no guarantees.
