The Alfred Edwin born 1875 had mmn Haycroft
There is a possible marriage 1855 Wallingford
Rachael Heycroft
Same page Charles Hunt

The family are on the 1881 but I am stuggling to find them on other censuses and Alfred and Kate /Annie in 1911.

To have definite proof of his father I would purchase the marriage certificate
Ref: Chelmsford December Quarter vol. 4a page 1112.

A PDF copy is less than a certified copy.

Let us know and we can resume the search

A PDF copy is less than a certified copy.

Unfortunately PDFs are not available for marriages, only paper copies - and even worse, the price has just gone up to £11 for standard 2nd class or airmail delivery :'(

(How I hate being the bearer of bad news.)

For the Chelmsford records you could purchase for £10 a 1 day pass to the online Essex Parrish records, Birth, Death & Marriage records are available to view.

https://www.essexarchivesonline.co.uk/ParishRegisters.aspx

You can check on line to see if the parish/dates you want are available before you view.  You would then be able search the registration district for the correct entry and view the register.  It works out cheaper than a certificate and is quicker if overseas.

The last Q4 1910 Chelmsford marriage is in Writtle, page 1107 which I think implies that this is a RO marriage.

Thank you one and all for your help, I really appreciate it....the person I am trying to help with her family has now decided she doesn't want to pay out money for help with certs....so I won't be able to carry on with the research.

So Carol don't be sorry for the bad news....and she is beginning to think maybe they were not in Oxford after all but maybe Dorsetshire or Southhampton....

Thank you all again.

Kind Regards

Shari
