Birth - COX
« on: Friday 22 February 19 11:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have the Marriage Certificate of Alexander Munro and Eliza Cox married in Victoria Australia in 1862.
Alexander is from Scotland (found him)
Eliza COX states born Suffolk in 1862 she is listed as being 25yrs and a Milliner.
Her parents are Thomas Cox and Ann Cox maiden name something then al it is either one or 2 letters before the al.
I have the marriage certificate as a PDF but I don't know how to attach it.
Happy to send to anyone who might be able help read the name.

Any help would be wonderful, thank you in advance.

Hi there, can you verify something please, you say she married in Australia in 1862,and yet you say she was born in Suffolk in 1862 too?

You need to crop the part (and a part a bit bigger than the actual word you can't read so we can see how the writer forms their letters). You can use 'snipping tool' on a PC, and 'grab' on a Mac.
On Rootschat on your post, go to a 'post' page, at the bottom you will see 'attachments and other options'. Click on that and attach your cropped image. You will see you are restricted to 500KB max, so you may need to reduce the size of the file. I usually put mine through my photo software and re-save it is a smaller file.

Sorry to be confusing, she was married in 1862 in Australia.
What I meant to say on her marriage certificate she said she was 25 yrs old - born about 1837.
Place of birth Suffolk England.

It appears Eliza's mother may have been Ann Neal hope this might help find her birth.

Cannot find a likely birth or baptism for an Eliza Cox bc.1836/7 Suffolk - found a marriage between a Thomas Cox of Woodhurst, Huntingdonshire who married an Anne Neal 27/7/1824 Boxworth, Cambridgeshire but no idea if this could be Eliza's parents.   However, no link to Suffolk.

Hi,

Eliza COX - do you have the passenger list for her arrival into the colony? if so, what does it record about her and her parents...
