Andrew Connolly Co. Cavan 1875
« on: Monday 25 February 19 00:08 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am looking for any information on Andrew Connolly pre-1911, his siblings, or his father. From this 1911 census, it states that Andrew was born in County Cavan and was born in 1875. He married Jane Houston(not 100% it's spelled that way) on Dec. 25, 1900, Belfast RC Church, Parish Belfast Urban 10. Died in 1928 and buried in Drumcree Cemetery. Roman Catholic.  If you are able to find anything please let me know. I've been using ancestry to trace my ancestors, and the Irish side has been the hardest to find information, which is what I'm curious about the most lmao :-X Hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction.

Thank you!

Do you have his mother's name from the church record of his marriage?

I do not. I don't even have a document, my aunt just wrote all this information down for me. I have the marriage number of #370915 if that can do anything. Also, I wasn't 100% sure if this record was correct since I didn't know his father's name, but I have this document that is Andrew's birth registry. It has his mother's name and maiden name, the only problem is I can't read the handwriting...... This one states Patrick's occupation is a shipmaker?.
Also any specific reason why there are two different spellings of the names? Andrew Conolly/Connolly and Jeanie/Jenney Houston?
Anyway thanks for finding this!

There is an Andrew Connolly born April 17 1875 in Cavan registration district so he would have been 36 on Census night, father is Patrick, his job looks like something maker, next to impossible to read

Second from the bottom
He may not be your Andrew, Cavan isn't the only Reg district in Co. Cavan, you can find the other districts here https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php
And search here

Oh and welcome to RootsChat.

Added just seeing your reply, we found the same birth.

People weren't as fussy about spelling as we are today, names were spelt what ever way the person writing the record thought it was spelt.

Possibly a shoemaker, wouldn't expect to find a ship maker in Cavan.

And yes Mc something

Keep in mind it may not be the correct birth.
