Nicholas BARRETT, born 1839, Truro Union

Hello,

Nicholas BARRETT's MMN was GIDLEY according to the GRO.

Could someone please confirm or otherwise that she was Catherine BARRETT, born 1806, and married to Jonathan BARRETT, born 1796.......1841 Census (HO107147/6/1, p.6) showing the 2 year old Nicholas.

Nicholas BARRETT was imprisoned for 4 years between 6/1853 and 4/1857 (Parkhurst Prison) and in 1853 he stated that his father was dead and mother "travels the country with a show".   I am having difficulty tracing him after 1857 and would welcome any suggestions or information.

If this is he there are 2 entries in Falmouth directories for a Nicholas Barratt

19 and 20 Webber Street under Fruiterers in 1895

The Jonathan Barrett death in Jun 1851 Penzance was age 52.

The Nicholas in the directories was born 1839 Truro per 1891 census so looking promising.

Married to Elizabeth with 7 children including a Catherine. 

Can't see a marriage until Jun 1888 - Truru - to Elizabeth Yendle

Daughter Martha born Dec 1883 Yeovil has MMN Yendle

I am very confused with this Nicholas.
I see the 1841/1851/1891 Census for him but otherwise am stumped!
(now found 1881)

1881 in Bristol, Glous we have;
Nicholas Barrett, 39, Head, Mar, Hawker, born Cornwall
Jane Barrett, 25, Wife, Mar, born Cornwall
Nicholas Barrett, Son, 18 mths, born Bristol 

1891 we have;
Nicholas Barrett   52
Elizabeth Barrett 36
Charles Barrett   16
William H Barrett 14
Elizabeth J Barrett 13
Nicholas Barrett   11
Martha Barrett   9
Ann Barrett 7
Catherine Barrett 1

So where are Charles/William/Elizabeth J in 1881?


The 1888 Marriage is on CornwallOPC, he was a Widower, Hawker, Father JONATHAN a Seaman

Nicholas seems to Bapt children in Bristol, St Jude, Gloucestershire with Elizabeth Jane;

So is this him in 1871 with his 1st Wife?

Some pretty comprehensive research which does seem to offer reasonable suggestions to the question that is the enigmatic Nicholas BARRETT!!   I have not considered all the details yet, but so far the outlook is definitively optimistic
