Maidenstone - I got the ruler on the palms of my hands for talking, only 6/7 years old I believe.    The worst of it was that it wasn't actually me and the real culprit wouldn't own up.

Thank you very much for your help everyone, I have purchased some credits and got the record for their marriage in Scotland  :) Now I just need to work out what they were doing getting married in Scotland!

I didn't know about Scotland People and think it will come in handy for some other ancestors too.

Always blown away by the support I get on this forum, as a beginner it is invaluable!

Perhaps William was based there during the war and they married when he had leave. Let us know what the marriage certificate says.

This is the information on William John Bugden on Imperial War Museum Lives of the First World War Digital Memorial website.
Search for him under Bugden surname and tick box for Royal Navy. He didn't show up when I looked for William Bugden, Royal Navy.
William John Bugden
22/06/1890 - Not yet known
Royal Navy, service no. 237534
0 remembering

Life Story.
Born Margate, Kent 1890 (Source Royal Navy Seamen 1899-1919)

You can add information to his life story, with evidence until this week-end. I received another reminder today that there are only a few days left to add to profiles. You just need to register, find your ancestor's profile, click that you are remembering him, then you can add to his life story.

Thank you, I found this website but was unable to pay for a subscription as it was too close to closing (I emailed and said I didn't mind not getting my month's worth but they said it wasn't possible). I am pleased that I am able to add information without a subscription.

I wasn't asked for a subscription. I found it and registered last November.
