Did William marry twice?

On the 1881 Census living at Bryn Tirion Penmachno I have William Davies born Penmachno 1829, his wife Elizabeth born Penmachno 1838, Children Mary 1862, Ellen 1868, William Daniel 1879 & David 1881 all born Penmachno. I can't find the family on the 1871 Census though.
Looking at the children's DOB there is a large gap of 11 years between Ellen & William Daniel which made me wonder if William senior had married twice having the girls from his first wife then the boys from Elizabeth. I have looked at GRO & Mary & Ellen's mother was Roberts & William Daniel & David's mother Hughes.
So there is a possibility William senior married Elizabeth(Hughes) sometime between 1868 & 1881 but I can't find a marriage.
I would be so grateful of any suggestions or help as to sorting this problem

So there is a possibility William senior married Elizabeth(Hughes) sometime between 1868 & 1881

Elizabeth would have been quite old for a first marriage

Marriage date   23 Dec 1854

Maybe it was her first marriage

Thank you so much Rosie I needed the reassurance there were 2 wives & you found both marriages too, bless you.
I have looked up the marriage you mention in 1854 & the odd thing is they forgot to put the Bride's name on the register, but have put her name next to her mark.
I have more info to work on to go back further now I have the father's names, but not so easy with the 1841 Census,

I noticed that her name was missing from the marriage, a good job it was shown where her signature should be.
