Can I suggest before you order the birth cert. that you go to the GRO and put in the details of the birth (as you have found above).
You have to register first which is free, enter the details you have,  on the birth page and see what comes up in the search.
Hopefully it will give the mother's maiden name (mmn). You can then decide if you feel its worth it, to order the cert. or to save some money, order a 'pdf" version which you'll get via email. Much quicker.

Alan - I posted the GRO birth for Matthew previously on the thread and no mother's maiden name was listed     

I do wonder whether his mother registered her when they returned to England or it was another child but I can't see a Matthew Hubbard  in 1851

I have a reference for James Marigold 11th Hussars with two references in the National Archives:-  WO 12/1009 and  WO 12/1005.

I find it impossible to negotiate this webpage.  Can someone help with finding this record?

Can you re-check the GRO reference for Matthew William Marigold who is listed as being registered in the Armed Forces Birth Registers in Dublin, please.  The reference above was GRO 1848 Vol 274 Line 88.  I can't order as it won't recognise these details and GRO has replied to me this with no help either.  Thanks.
