Wow...........again :)

I really appreciate the time & interest you are displaying here, thankyou.

I am particularly interested in the Military information on Alfred. If he was born in 1875 I think it more likely he was a "Military Mate" of Leslie's father, and my G Grandfather, Isaac W Reid (born 1872)who was also in the Royal Engineers. Rising all the way through the ranks he eventually achieved the rank of Captain, and was to all intents & purposes effectively in charge of the Defence of the River Mersey in WW1.

I guess that after Alfred emigrated to Canada, he probably kept in touch with Isaac, and thus became the obvious choice of contact when Leslie decided to follow in his footsteps.

Certainly a lot to think about

Thanks again

Regards

Hi,

Alfred was posted to Bermuda 1904-1907, attaching snippet.

I am not seeing Isaac's service file, but there is a Freemason Membership Register for him,
Broad Arrow Lodge, St. Georges, Bermuda between 1905 and 1908.

You were spot on with Alfred and Isaac being mates, not Leslie. 8)

Thank you both again for all the information.

I have Isaacs full military record and he was indeed posted to Bermuda on and to the exact same dates as Alfred. I was also aware if Isaacs masonic membership so clearly they were pretty good friends.

Amazingly enough, one of the signatories on the "Alfred 3" document, K Lockhart, is also familiar to me. He must have been a close friend of the family, because I have a hand written poem signed by him, in a very old, small "Friendship" book that belonged to Isaacs daughter (Leslies sister)

I suspect many lifelong friends were made, during such postings.
