Hi

Just had another look before work and I would say John Woodhead was born 9 August 1806 at Thongsbridge and baptised 5 September 1806 at the Lane Independent Chapel Holmfirth the son of Richard & Mary Woodhead.
The census have him being born in 1807 and his eldest son is called Richard Woodhead (born 1831).

Here's some info about Lane Independent Chapel
https://huddersfield.exposed/wiki/Congregational_Chapel,_Upperthong_Lane,_Holmfirth
which includes a link to Huddersfield & District FHS. You may be able to find Richard snr's baptism & marriage.
I live not far away, so if you want any local photos let me know. The chapel has been converted to flats & the cemetery is their private garden [don't set me off on what I think of that... >:(]. I do not know if the developers carried out their legal responsibility & lodged a list of headstones etc with th elocal council - Kirklees.

WYAS - Huddersfield - have Holmfirth, Lane records - baptisms only 1779-1916.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

John Woodhead 1761 - 1844 and Sarah Sykes 1765 - 1834 are possibly the parents. They had a son Joshua baptised 1791 at Lane Independent and also a son Henry born 1810. Henry was the father of Sir John Woodhead who was 4 times the Mayor of Capetown and involved with the Woodhead Tunnel and the Woodhead Reservoir which were built there and named after him. Henry was an engineer and married to Elizabeth Spivey. They lived in Hull and then in Southamprton.
