Ships from Quebec
« on: Sunday 24 March 19 10:31 GMT (UK) »
Is there anyway of finding a list of ships that left Quebec 1814-1829 for the UK?

Hello and a very warm welcome to RootsChat  :)

According to info in this link, there were no records kept for departures from Canadian ports. See part way down the first section.....

Hi, and welcome to Rootschat!

Is it a specific ship you are looking for?  The only way I can think of is searching the old UK newspapers, as they always posted the arrivals.  The info they generally give is arrival port, ship name, masters name, voyage time in days, and from where they came.

Try a search of Lloyd's List up until 1826
http://www.maritimearchives.co.uk/lloyds-list.html

After this date you can still search online
Example page
https://newspaperarchive.com/london-lloyd-list-sep-27-1855-p-6/

 Library/Archives Locations of Lloyds List.
http://www.mariners-l.co.uk/ResLloydsLocations.html

Lloyds List is where Local newspapers get their information on shipping movements. It is much more comprehensive than  what can be obtained from local newspapers. That said, Most sailings from Quebec arrived at the UK port of Liverpool, so Liverpool newspapers may be a good place to start.  A BIG search.

Thanks for my warm welcome to roots chat and the ideas from bBart and polarbear and seaweed.
It will take me sometime to work through their suggestions.
One possible ship is the transport "Hussarian" after the war of 1812
And a Whitby ship the "Hibbert"

I can find HIBBERT from 1820 until 1831 in Lloyd's Register.  Lloyds Register, not the most accurate publication, records a voyage from London to Quebec 1n 1830. You need to check this with Lloyds List.
I can find no voyages to/from Quebec for HUSSAREN? (This is the spelling given in Lloyd's Register)
For information on the movements of HIBBERT, try

https://whitbymuseum.org.uk/home/
They have surviving Muster Rolls for Whitby vessels.

Both vessels do not appear to be in Lloyd's Register after 1831.
