population size of a village
« on: Wednesday 27 March 19 10:11 GMT (UK) »
can anyone advise how I can find it out?
I have some data for the village in question (1801 - 1951 & 2011) but would like to fill in the blanks (1961 - 2001)
I'm not interested in names just the village size so is possible to find this out via census returns?

thanks, in hope, of any help or advice anyone can give

Where is the village?

If in the uk, you won’t be able to access any census returns for the years you mention.

You could try electoral rolls, which obviously won’t give you a full head count, but will give an idea of population movement.

Is this what you want

https://www.cso.ie/en/census/censusvolumes1926to1991/historicalreports/census1961reports/census1961volume1/

Central Statistics Office give out general information such as population but not personal info relating directly to people.

All I did was put in  Google  -  population 1961 census uk
GEDmatch M157477

in England - just for my own amusement (and in view of all the building work going on) I'm looking at the size change over the years.
From various websites I've got the years listed but couldn't find the missing ones.

medpat - that's it but for England (I must have put in a weird search to google as I didn't get that) I assumed that it would be available from census data

Medpat's link is for the Irish census !

See https://www.ons.gov.uk/census/2011census/2011censusdata/censusdata18011991 re English census data

Also https://www.ons.gov.uk/census/2011census/2011censusdata/2001censusdata.  I have in the past been able to access 2001 census data by ward so I assume that is still possible. You may also be able to find this data on the relevant county council website.
