Theresa Agnes Elliott
« on: Thursday 28 March 19 12:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Theresa Agnes Elliott married Gregory Thomas Byrne on 6th November 1871 in Maryborough Victoria.
If anyone has the marriage certificate  & can help me with her parents names I'd be ever so happy.
I do not believe she was the daughter of Bridget Nihil, & need this to progress.
Thanks in advance

Thank you so much for your very speedy reply, but I have this information. I don't think Bridget was her mother for a couple of reasons & just want to check if the answer is out there before I purchase the certificate, which may still not have the answer!

The m.c. is usually considered a more reliable document,  with first hand info .... and VIC BDM  documents have headings for a real depth of family history to be available ..... but ....  have you good reasons to be unsure of her knowledge of her parents when she married ...... if so,  then  perhaps the answers found on that  m.c. will at least provide her responses ......

Have you checked
 * Trove,
 * death cert of  Bridget to see if your lass is named as her daughter

Thank you cupoflife & majm,
My reasons for disbelieving are:
Theresa's birth was at least 7 years before Andrew & Bridget married on 28 July  1862,when Andrew is noted as bachelor. Theresa was said to have been born in Westmeath Ireland. Bridget was born County Clare c 1837, Andrew baptised Launceston 1837.
Theresa is not listed or even mentioned on Bridget's administration in 1905. all the surviving children born to Andrew & Bridget are included.
I have checked Trove but not viewed Brigdget's dc.
Theresa could well be Andrews daughter, but as majm pointed out, she may not even know!

I think she is more likely to be the daughter of Andrew ELLIOTT and Bridget MORAN.

Just doing a general search, possible siblings died in Victoria - Catherine SEARLE (1920), Ann HOGAN (1883), Margaret BAKER (1903), and Rose WOODGATE (1910).  These girls, including Teresa and others, are showing as baptisms in Westmeath, Ireland.

Margaret, Rose, and Teresa are on a manifest for the Jessie Munn arriving in Victoria in 1863 but crossed out as not being onboard.  They were travelling with a Catherine TRACY.  The three girls' ages are all exactly three years out on that manifest compared to the Westmeath baptisms.

Do you not even know where Teresa was born or how old she was?

Debra  :)

Thanks Debra,
I'll go down this track, & see what happens from here.
Theresa's age in 1929 at death was given as 75.
I have to be 100% sure.

Victorian index regarding marriage of Rose ELLIOTT to Musgrave WOODGATE gives her birthplace as
TUBERCLARE
I do not know what /where. Perhaps someone else does.

For the marriage of Margaret to Alfred BAKER, her birthplace is WESTMEATH.

The indexing for the other women, Theresa, Ann and Catherine gives no birthplace.
