One of the witnesses to Edwin's marriage was Charles Clayton, Fanny's brother. Both bride and groom gave no father's name.

A signature on the marriage of Charles's daughter, Sarah Jane, to Richard Henry Hall on 20th October 1896, was E. Clayton with handwriting similar to Edwwin. Phoebe, born in Navenby, was living with her grandparents in Tattershall in 1881, but no mother.

In 1891, the grandparents, John and Ellen Ogden, had moved to Caythorpe. Phoebe was in Leeds.

Fanny Betts, who died in 1885, age 23, was of Barn Hill, Stamford. Frederick Betts who died in 1887, age 30, was of nearby Broad Street
