David Kennedy McBlain/BLANE who's the mother .father + namesake?
« on: Friday 12 April 19 13:12 BST (UK) »
Ive had problems finding the origins of my  shoemaker ancestor David BLANE born in Govern Aryshire abt.1830
From 1855 birth of daughter Mary in Maybole Aryshire
With wife Isabella CLYDE on 1861 census

By 1871 the family had moved in with widowed Mary CLYDE in Shettleston Lanarkshire their daughter Mary is 16 and a baby sister Isabelle .6mths..( i havent found any evidence of other children yet)

According to several trees an Ancestry David BLANE was illegitimate mother Euphemia BLANE  but i cant fiind her anywhere else

IN 1851 aged 20  He is a journeyman shoemaker in Ayr with his uncle and aunt John and Janet ALEXANDER

There is a birth of David BLAIN 15 AUG 1832 Maybole
Parents John BLAIN /Elizabeth MCHUTCHEON
their marriage  3rd march 1826 ..
on scottishpeople but i dont have credits and it seems to have become harder to use ...or ive lost the knack of putting locations in .!

If anyone can find what happened to him or his parents between 1828 and 1851 Id be grateful .

According to some trees he has a half brother Thomas Brown  ...i dont know how that surname fits

Do you have a death certificate for David which will give you his mothers name if known ? A lot of tree's are not very reliable always better to check for yourself first

Hi Bridgetmac,

1841 Census - Parish -Kirkmichael, Ayrshire
Address Crosshill, King Street

John Blane          37       Blacksmith      born outside county
Elizabeth Blane    35                             Ayrshire
Stewart Blane      15
John Blane           12
William Blane        10
David Blane           8
Margaret Blane       6
Mary Blane             4
Christina Blane       1
James Thomson    15      Blacksmith Journeyman
John Bowie           15      Blacksmith Journeyman

All children Ayrshire born. Found this on Freecen website.  I would imagine this is the David Blane born in Maybole to John Blane & Elizabeth McHutcheon.

Have you found your David's marriage and death registration ? If he married 1855 or onwards his parents could be named on his marriage certificate. Same with his death (if the informant knew who his parents were).

Looby :)

There is a death for a David Blain 1892 in Shettleston age 60 which looks a possibility maybe worth while investing in some credits to see what it says
