Thanks - yes old photos are my passion!  I also found a photo of the Water Mill, Aspenden where William lived in 1851.  It is on the Hertfordshire Genealogy website which says that the Boddy family owned the Water Mill for generations, and on the 1851 census they are living there too - so I know I have the right building.
