Lucy Tiffen
« on: Friday 19 April 19 15:10 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Lucy Tiffen was born in about 1806, possibly in the Edwardstone/Groton area. She wed Isaac Mann and had several children before dying in the area in 1848 aged 42. I cannot find any information on her ancestors. Is anyone researching Lucy Tiffen? Many thanks.
Brian

May be a possible brother for Lucy - living close to her & Isaac on the 1841

John Tiffen 30 married to Jemima but baptised a daughter Lucy in 1832 .  The 1851 shows his birthplace as Gt Cornard

Hello,
Thanks for your replies. I had noticed the John Tiffen and wondered if Lucy might be his sister.  As you say John was born in Great Cornard, which is very close to the Essex border. Lucy may have been born across the border. It is a pity she did not live to 1851.
Thanks again

Hello,
Thank you very much indeed for your answers. That has been really helpful - I made the mistake of assuming that her name was Tiffen and that she was born in Suffolk and that she was born in 1806ish. I should have allowed more flexibility.
Thanks again.
Brian

Hi I was coming from a different angle. I have the John Tiffen born in Great Cornard in abt 1812 according to census records who married Jemima Griggs.
I thought great Lucy will be the sister..... however on the baptism of John Tuffen/Tiffen in Great Henny.... he appears in Great Henny in 1841 and later and dies in Great Henny in 1878...

Just found John Tuffen/Tiffen in Great Henny in 1841..... so that has put a stop to that theory.... what a shame as it would have made sense.

John Tuffen 35, ag lab, Delia Tuffen 35, Ann Tuffen 10, Edwd Tuffen 8, Mary Tuffen 7, George Tuffen 5, Amelia Tuffen 3 living in Little Hadbush

So I still don't know who is John Tiffen of Great Cornard. I had allocated him to William and Mary (nee Amy ? ) but not sure .

Also on the William Tiffen/Tuffen of Great Henny. The 1841 William Tiffen is someone else.... sorry.
