Hi
Thank you😊. He was born in Enniscorthy wexford I believe, 2nd December 1877. His father was Thomas and mother was Mary aka Lally. He attended st Peters seminary in wexford and failed ordination. He arrived in London in around 1900 with the name Thomas Esmonde. He is on London records until he disappeared in 1905 probably to the USA. He married once to Maud Beatrice Bodfish (my gt gt grandmother) in London in 1902 ish.

I know this is an old thread, but I’m wondering if any of you Murphy descendants have taken DNA tests.

I have Murphy ancestors from Wexford. Mary Murphy (presumably) married Denis Connor some time before 1864, as their daughter, my ancestor, Mary Jane Connor was born “about” 1864.

Apart from the names and her place of birth as “Wexford, Wexford” I know nothing about the Murphys. Other family were born in New Ross.

Investigating DNA might be interesting.  :)

No need for the [sic]. Macmine was and is the standard spelling for the name, whatever the townlands site may say. A very well known name, as it was the site of a railway station and junction - the name of which was Macmine Junction, on the DSER route from Dublin to Waterford.  I have never seen the spelling "Mackmine" before.

There are many examples where the local, Post Office and railway spelling diverge from the O.S.  version. And this is one.
