Problems with Ancestry DNA pages?
« on: Wednesday 24 April 19 17:33 BST (UK) »
I think I've broken Ancestry!!

On the Common Ancestors page, I'm getting the same bunch of names over and over again but with no indication of the commonality (is that a word?!)

On the matches I'm managing for others, I click on an individual to get to the original profile which used to tell you how many cMs, if any, that individual shared with me but the site just goes into revolving cursor ad infinitum.

Anyone else having similar problems or is it just me? I suppose it could be a glitch in the Beta system.

You actually get names in the common ancestors section? Very envious.

I also get issues with Ancestry hanging, or getting caught in an odd loop, or the photo of the man panning for gold coming up and 'sorry, we have a problem, try later.' Same with FindMyPast and their '500' page. I think all the sites have some major issues, possibly to do with weight of use but also the amount of upgrades and updates they do. Sometimes just closing it all down and going back a few hours later finds it sorted, but it's annoying when you've set aside some time to work on something and you can't. Perhaps we should recharge them for down-time  ;)

Is it still doing it?

Ancestry does seem to be having problems for the last few days

Yes, still doing it. I think you're right - about it getting caught in a loop. I shouldn't fault them for wanting to improve our 'experience' but I wish they'd make sure they have the capacity first!

I shall switch off now and try again tomorrow.

Incidentally, have you put a tree on Ancestry - I don't think you'll get common ancestors if you haven't but you certainly should if you have.

Yes, I get those annoying 'woops' screens as well - been getting them a lot on FindMyPast and I'm convinced its because the kids were on half term and slow down wifi (but then what do I know about such technical things!).

I am finding people’s profile pages are not loading. Not even my own. Prior to this yesterday was clicking on a profile an instead of it saying you are match or this person may not having taken a DNA test it had in the same space where that was before something to click on to learn more about Ancestry DNA.

I had that a couple of days ago, but it was OK after I'd cleared my Ancestry cookies and logged in again.

I had this on Firefox and switched to Chrome and they came up no problem  ::)

PS - the Ancestry cookies seem to be causing a lot of problems at the moment.
