born about 1832+-5 years Dumfriesshire

The 1841 census has 22 entries in that age range - none living in Dumfries

When did he die and what age was he when he died?

1851 - 24 entries none born or living Dumfries.  If he was a mariner - he may have been at sea when the census was taken

Can you give the source for the details that you are using -

"..George MARSHALL born about 1832+-5 years Dumfriesshire.."

"..came to nz about 1855/6.."

".. says he was a mariner"  Is this on his marriage record?

Can you list all the information on the marriage document please. It should have church...witnesses....do both sign (are they literate.

This site -
http://christchurchcitylibraries.com/Heritage/Digitised/Emigration/EmbarkationLists/IsabellaHercus-1855/

has Anne FRAZER 21 years arriving "Isabella Hercus", 1855

Do you have death record for George MARSHALL and wife Ann?
