From the 1911 Luton Year Book & Directory....

406 Hitchin Road is not listed, the even numbers only go up to 164 (the odds up to 347)
333 High Town Road has John Aitken

There is no Ada Bates listed ... but there is an A Bates at 41 Hibbert Street
There are other Bates names listed 

The information was gathered in 1910

From 1917 Luton Year Book,,,

406 Hitchin Road has A Taylor
333 High Town Road has E A Clements

They are the only 2 Luton books I have

Can't see her in Luton in 1911 but the only Spalding chap is Bertram (Snozell)  Spalding born 1873 married brewer's traveller,from Kimpton Herts. He has 5 children. Eldest son also called Bertram is 14 in 1911. He was at no 114 Hitchin Road.

Bertram & Emma Spalding were at #204 Hitchin Road from 1913-1915 and at #206 from 1918 onwards. I'm wondering if mother Ada was not sure of the exact address of the Spaldings. As to the children's father, could it be their son Bertram Hubert Spalding?  OK he was only 14 in 1911 but he was in 13th Bt. Royal Sussex regiment and died 27 Oct 1916 aged 19.
