William Brown, Kilmarnock
« on: Tuesday 07 May 19 21:00 BST (UK) »
Trying to find out more on the above ancestor.  What I have so far is:

B. 31/01/1862  21 Grange Street, Kilmarnock, SCO

Father George Brown
Mother Margaret Peden
Brother Andrew Brown (he moved to Cardiff with wife and subsequent children there)

Father, widowed and remarried Jeanie Adams and thereafter 8 half siblings for William.

William listed on the 1881 census and occupation as medical student.  Thereafter disappears....

Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe worth checking graduation lists to see if/when he graduated - likely to be from Glasgow or Edinburgh. Have you checked for a death between 1881 and the 1891 census?

Could he have emigrated?  Unfortunately his surname is very common but if he graduated his occupation could make it easier to determine the right William Brown

Yes have thought of that, particularly as some of his half siblings emigrated to Canada and his brother moved to Wales.

The 1901 English census has a 41yr old William Brown b Scotland - physician & surgeon & living in Gloucs.  Although indexed just as William - looking at the image I think he may be William C

He is married
