Clara Budd born Faringdon c1857
« on: Wednesday 08 May 19 15:47 BST (UK) »
Clara Agnes Budd married John William Godfrey in London in 1877. Various censuses give her place of birth as Faringdon (then in Berkshire). Her father was William, a carpenter. I have had no luck tracing the family in Faringdon!

You probably know this but Clara Agnes Budd married John William Godfrey in Bayswater, London on
16 December 1877. As it has been mentioned before one wonders if her birth was registered.

No luck with anything either birth or previous census  :-\

William Budd could be made up or a step fathers name.  She could have been born under another name but Clara Agnes is quite specific combination to look for.

Was she already in London at the time of her marriage (residence at the time)

Any witness names that could lead back to her family?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Rosa and Lucie are in Norfolk with father Joseph, a vicar, in 1871, no sign of Clara

In 1871 Joseph is married to a Harriett Elizabeth, the plot thickens :)

Many thanks to everyone. It does not appear that the birth was registered. The Vicar in Norfolk in 1871 is not the same William. I shall look under Agnes etc! The 1877 marriage register does mention William Budd as father, a carpenter. I will look into him being perhaps the second husband of the mother.
