I'm not sure which of the two threads to post this on but I'll stick it here since this has more replies than the other. We have been advising in chat on this matter.
As a rundown for others:
- The birth, 1939 and death of P Ward have been found.
- His parents and siblings are known, but at this time research into his family history is not required- the desire is to find other children fathered by P Ward.
- P married twice- the first marriage produced one child who has been spoken to previously and who does not want contact. No other legitimate children known- second marriage did not produce any children.
- From promiscuous behaviour of P Ward, other illegitimate children are suspected but not confirmed.
- Salvation Army was unable to assist without any information.
- DNA testing has been advised as a future option and perhaps the only option likely to find any half-siblings not registered as WARD.
- All WARD births for a particular time frame in the target area have been located with advice to cross reference maiden names with marriages to eliminate any that can be accounted for by another male WARD.
- The Ancestry tree which includes P Ward is an experimental tree by the OP, not a different relative.
- Further advice on how to track down potential half-siblings appreciated.
