According to a Wikki tree and Geni tree William arrived from Forfifshire possibly Forfarshire/Angus on 6 April 1874 on the "Dunedin" can find no death of a Jane Duff other name Clark or a marriage for a William Clark to a Jane/Jean Duff But have found a death of a Jean Duff other name Clark in 1865 age 45 Kirkintilloch

it says on his death printout that he married a Ruby White but his wife at death was a Ruby Elsworth. I wonder if they are one in the same.

Juanita, who was the informant on the death certificate?  As Ruskie pointed out, informants only give the details to the best of their knowledge as much as they know about the deceased.

Cheers

Thank you everyone for all your help. William Stirling Clark died in 1907 in a train accident in New Zealand. On his grave it says he was born in Scotland. On his death printout it says he married a Ruby White.

I don’t understand just what you mean.

Are you saying Williams death cert says his wife was Ruby white
But that Ruby CLARK’s death certificate says her maiden name was Elsworth?

As KHP asked Who notified the deaths

It might help if you post the relevant parts of the certificates/printouts or whatever you have, including the column headings, so we can have a look.
(You can post several parts of the certificates but just not the entire certificate).
