Hi,
I am trying to find any information in regard to Elsie Olive Willoughby (nee Goddard) b. 1896 at Reading Berkshire, who travelled between Canada and England during the years 1921 through to around 1962.    We believe that her Mother also could have travelled with her, her name being Kate Thorn, and even her brother Henry (Harry) Goddard b. 1891, who had gone to Australia for a period of time, but we believe he also went to Canada.   Elsie Willoughby was married to Alfred T Willoughby, and am not sure whether he travelled during these periods as well.

If anyone can assist me with information on this family,I will be very grateful, as I don't have access to any Ancestry records in Canada.

A quick search - on my phone - suggests Elsie travelled back and forth a few times. Hard to see the records on my phone but one i opened - arriving in Quebec on 23 July 1921 - she was with her husband and they were intending to buy a farm and settle in Vancouver. I’ll have a look at the other records later when i am on the computer (unless others get the info for you first).

Thank you so much for this, this Goddard family seem to be all over the place, and I need to get to the bottom of this, including the Henry or Harry Goddard who came to Australia and became a Pearler in Broome.
I have most information for him here, but need to connect up with any other information on his travels to and from UK, if maybe also via Canada.

Other journeys....
She returned ‘home’ - to Canada - and again in July 1947 (via New York), and June 1949 (Montreal).
Elsie and Violet aged 2 sailed from Southampton to Montreal in Sept 1924
Alfred, Elsie and Violet arrived in Washington in July 1929
In April 1953 she sailed on the Mauretania from New York to Southampton (on her own)
In Sept 1962 she arrived in New York - on her own - in transit to Canada

I can’t immediately see any records for her mother but her year of birth might help in a search given her more common name than Elsie Olive  :) The ones i found were all too young.

Sandra - amazing details you get online with a death certificate  :)

Harry sailed from Sydney to Victoria, British Columbia, arriving in October 1926 (fare paid by his mother!). Destined for his mother - Mrs K Goddard - in Vancouver. He was a butcher and landed as an ‘immigrant’.

He left Montreal for Plymouth in July 1927, as a carpenter, stating last place of permanent residence as Australia.
