William & Clara Walker can be found in the 1881 and 1891 census with their daughter Mary.
William is William Henry Walker. Mary is just plain Mary Walker. In 1891 age 20 Mary's occupation was "Printer". If this family is found with William in 1901 census then can't be correct family as William was deceased in 1893.

I agree.  I need to find the correct William Walker.  I will see if I can get a copy of a birth certificate for Mary.  I have her exact birth date from the 1939 Census, where she is shown widowed and living with her daughter Isabel and her family.  Thanks for all your help guys.  I have a few other troublesome areas in this particular tree so will probably be posting again.

Thanks very much.  I was hoping to get a copy of Mary's birth certificate from the GRO but a search of their indexes using her name and birth date comes up empty.  I will try the same with her siblings but if nothing comes up then I guess I have hit a brick wall with this part of the tree.

OK just realised the flaw in that plan!  Of course I do not who her siblings are - if indeed she had any.  The William Walker I thought was her father is incorrect, so unless I can track her down somewhere prior to her marriage I can do nothing!

I did have a quick look last night, but could not find any marriages on her husband's side with the Rush surname.  Unfortunately I don't know Mary's siblings so I have nothing to work with.  I will keep searching though as it is currently the only clue I have.

What date of birth is given on the 1939 register? Then, as now, you have 6 weeks to register a birth, so it could show up in the next quarter.
