It doesn't look like an F though   :-\  Also, is it the same household?

I think we need a ref so that we can look at the whole page for comparisons, as Rosie suggests.

I've started looking for 20 year olds in Brighton but there are quite a few  :-X

Thanks for all the input.  I have attached the full page.  I don't have any record of him in any further censuses - or a suitable death record.

I must admit that Fly man came to mind - a very common type of occupation in this family.  But it just didn't look like it to me.

Yes, it's a strange F but the F servants clinch it as Flyman for me.
