One marriage caught my eye:

John JACKSON and Mary MAVIN 6 Aug 1892

Marriage Place:
Wellingborough, All Hallows, Northamptonshire, England  (Image is on Ancestry).

Mary's father is listed as Joseph -Occ.Cemetery keeper. I noticed that Joseph MAVIN was a sexton in 1891.

John JACKSON may have died in 1894 (in Wellingborough).

There's a Mary JACKSON (widow) born ~1859 Embleton (Cumberland?) working as a maid in Bath on the 1901.

Could just be red herrings all over the place! :)

he he, I had not long opened that marriage, its a bit smoke and mirrors but I am getting hopeful about this - its certainly the first one to get in the 'possibles' category anyway.

I may have found the census without the aid of an adult if Ancestry recognised that there is an Embleton  in Northumberland. Every time I tried to specify Embleton as a birthplace it gave me options of Embleton, Durham or Embleton, Cumberland so I did what I thought was playing it safe and just specified Northumberland. Given that they had transcribed her birth place on that 1891 census as Embleton, Northamptonshire it didn't turn up. :-) I've added a correction.

Thank you for the help Maureen, much appreciated

There's an Ella Jackson, mother's maiden name Mavin, birth registered Q1 1894, Wellingborough.
Sad, there's a death for her in the same year and quarter.

Whether this is my Mary Jane or not, the poor soul lost both her baby and her husband within two years of getting married.

Is this the same person in 1911? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7LS-KDQ

ooh thanks JenB !

Yes I think its the same person and she now has a middle name, which I really like, and an age which is more consistent with the birth year I expected.

<am shoving this little lot into the 'getting more likely' box !>

I have now opened up an 'outside chance, long shot, may as well save it' box

and the first item in there for 1881
is at Stagshaw Close House, Sandhoe Piece 5103, Folio 12, Page 15 & 16
Mary Jane, age 24 Housemaid, no surname recorded, no birthplace recorded.

:-)

Thanks for all the help folks.

Just pointing out an interesting coincidence:

Mary Jane Jackson is in the household of a clergyman in 1911 (ladies maid)

Mary Jackson is in the household of a clergyman in 1901 (ladies maid)

Mary Mavin born Embleton that maureen found in Babworth in 1891 is also in the household of a clergyman.

Well done for finding her on the 1911,JenB!

I don't think it's on Ancestry (well,I couldn't find it. ::) )but I do see it on FMPast.

Difficult name to deal with ...JACKSON.
