Thanks, Skoosh. I assume he had some sort of link to Catherine, my ancestor, but I have no idea what. She seems to have been the daughter of Donald and Anne, both McPhersons, who married in Laggan in 1802; it would be nice to tie her into the wider McPherson family, and the captain would be a useful gateway ancestor; but I can't.
