John McBrien
« on: Wednesday 29 May 19 17:48 BST (UK) »
Hi Rootschatters,

I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to find the record of the death of my gggrandfather, John McBrien.  It should be recorded some time between 1889 - 1901 and most probably in Donegal.  I've concluded these dates because their last child was William born in 1889 and his wife Eliza is a widow on the 1901 census.
Any help would be much appreciated - if I can find a burial record with an age on it I can get an accurate date of birth as I don't know that either.  His wife was Eliza dob 1848 approx.  First child my ggrandmother 1874 called Mary...

They married in Ballyshannon in the Parish of Kilbarron 21/10/1873 - John was a shoemaker.

Thanks Tab11

Have you tried a search like this on

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

there are a couple but you've a better idea of his age!

you can adjust search terms for others you might need!

You are Welcome.

Learning How to Search can be difficult but as you see I left District out as it was an "unknown".

If you find his Death you can use it if looking for others.... always allow a year or two each way when Searching.  Always check mother's maiden name on Birth Certs to ensure siblings.

...think they were actually from Fermanagh but registration district is Ballyshannon

Sub-registration district for his death is Belleek, Co Fermanagh.
