Tranmere is Cheshire - over the water from Liverpool
William and Eleanor married in St Andrews church , Bebington - why that church - about 4 miles from Tranmere ?  I wonder was she running a pub on her own ??  bit of a way from Ulverston

I think that marriage as likely as it may be really needs checking though. Ancestry has that marriage recorded too ( I found the other on FindMyPast) - but then there is this

Richard HADDON McIverton married EUPHEMIA Wright 19 March 1846 Dundee.

Thanks for Ellen in 1861.
Richard Hudson jr. was at boarding school in 1861 - Heversham Grammar School in Westmorland.  That's one thing I did find.  Sadly he came to a sticky end (literally) - he was accidentally thrown out of a carriage at Ulverston in 1869 (there is an inquest in the local newspaper) and administration of his estate was granted to Ellen Orr (wife of William Orr) his mother.  All the details of relationship are there in the Probate Index.  Another helpful piece of the jigsaw.
I think I'm coming back to the idea that they ran away to Scotland and were married (at Gretna??!)

I wonder if the earlier record for that marriage is the Proclamation of Banns record. I still think that this could be the marriage you seek.
